Holiday Part 2 - Puerto Pollensa Majorca 2015

Following on from my previous post about the journey - here - this is the rest of my holiday blog.

Part 2.
Arrival & holiday

I am always so relieved when we've landed safely & feel like I can finally relax. Time to enjoy myself! Because I had wheelchair assistance, we had to stay on the plane until everyone had got off. It makes me feel a bit claustrophobic when they all stand up the second the seatbelt sign is off waiting for the doors to open.

Once all the passengers have got off, they bring an ambi-lift to the doors of the plane. They always take the wheelchair off you when you get on the plane as it goes in the hold, but in my experience it has always been waiting for me before going into the terminal. While we were waiting for them, the cabin crew & captain were at the front so my little girl thanked them for the flight and the captain asked if she wanted to sit in the cockpit. Oh yes she did!! She loved it. He told her she could turn the wheel so she thinks she moved the plane. And she pressed something which made a noise so she thought it was brilliant. Think she would have happily stayed there!

One of the perks of having assistance is that you don't need to queue. Which at any airport is a pretty good thing, but at Palma airport it's excellent as it's so huge! By the time we got through security & to the carousel, our luggage was there so we went to find the coach. We must have been some of the last people to get on it as not long after we were ready to go. That was a bonus as sometimes we can be sat waiting for ages. It took about 40 minutes to get there which compared to the 90 minutes it had said in the brochure was a pleasant surprise.

We've been to Puerto Pollensa once before. I was pregnant at the time so it was around 7 years ago but I'd always wanted to go back. It's a fishing port & it isn't very built up so it still feels really traditional. I had already had confirmation from the Travel Agents that we'd been given a first floor room near the lift as I had requested so when we got to the hotel & we saw the room I was really happy. The hotel has had a recent refurb & is lovely & modern so I was pretty excited.

I can never relax properly until the unpacking has been done so we cracked on. We were still in time for dinner so we headed down after a quick change. I was exhausted & wasn't that hungry as I'd eaten on the journey but I still had a few bits. We were all inclusive too so no having to make sure we had money on us!! The restaurant has been extended since we were there & they have chefs cooking fresh meat & fish each night as well as a huge choice of other stuff. Was very impressed throughout the week with the food.

We went to sit round the pool & had a drink. It was so hot & I finally felt like I was on holiday. There was entertainment going on but we didn't stay long as we were ready for some sleep after a day of travelling. I was hiring a scooter but the place was shut until the morning so we headed to bed. I dosed myself with painkillers & sprayed some heat stuff on my wonky body!

Our hotel was the biggest in the resort with lots going on. We stayed at the Fergus Pollensa Park. Hotels are always a bit noisy at night/early morning but that's to be expected. We managed some sleep & even though I felt pretty knackered & achey the next day, we headed down for breakfast. There was everything you could possibly want to eat. Then it was time to go & chill by the pool!

I had booked the scooter via reception so went to collect it at the time they said it would be there. However in typical Spanish "maƱana" style, they were not on time! It was an English lady who brought it for me so we had a chat & I was rather happy to discover the scooter was blue, my favourite :) And of course my little Miss loved it...she spent all week wanting a lift on it & I think she was as disappointed as me at the end of the week. I love having the independence of a scooter as oppose to being in the wheelchair. I did find it hurt my hand where I was having to hold down the accelerator but other than that it was good.

Just in case you wondered I am wearing shorts in this!!

The outside area in the hotel was really nice with decent sunloungers & not the usual white plastic things you usually get. There were activities going on throughout the day for both children & adults. I hadn't really intended on sending my daughter to the Mini Club that often but it turned out to be really good & they did stuff around the grounds so we could pull a chair up & watch close by. They did stuff like colouring, yoga, pool games, garden games & every night was a mini disco. She loved it & made a lovely friend who she spent a lot of the holiday with & we spent time with her parents so that was nice. We are actually going to see them in a few weeks as they don't live very far away.

I felt really chilled whilst we were away, I went & had the odd rest but did feel relaxed round the pool & I was in the shade a fair bit as I can't seem to hack the sun very much these days. We had the occasional wander in the day but it was so hot that it was pretty uncomfortable. We went to the beach one day but it was busier than I thought it would be so we had a drink at a beach bar & left after an hour or so. Beautiful beach though.

The resort has the beach running along next to a road & from our hotel it was about a ten minute walk to the harbour where the cafes are. Some fab picture opportunities!

All in all we had a lovely time. I find the sun helps me loads too & would live abroad if I could. By the end of the week though I was ready for home. I think doing so much compared to normal was taking it's toll on me & also I was sick of all the food!! Which is really silly as I actually ate really healthily while I was there.. I was feeling pretty wrecked & the thought of travelling home was at the back of my mind. The journey home was really draining as by the time you've got to the airport on the transfer & gone through check-in then security you feel like you are ready for bed. But we had a few more hours yet! I was really good again taking off & did the looking out of the window thing but then turbulence started & I freaked. I really don't like it! Combined with exhaustion I was ready to cry. However, we finally landed safely & were soon home. I love the feeling of climbing into your own bed when you've been away!

I had really bad holiday blues for a few days & felt quite down but I'm ok now. I think because being away I escape everything & although I still feel poorly when I'm on holiday, it is better than being stuck at home not being able to do much. Once you get back it's like reality hits you & there's no escape anymore. But I have all the lovely pictures to look at & some really nice memories. And I would be back there now in a shot!

Holiday part 1 - Puerto Pollensa Majorca 2015

I am going to split my holiday blog post over 2 seperate ones as it will be too long otherwise!

So here we go with part 1.
The Journey.

Even though I had done the majority of packing in advance, of course I still ended up a bit stressed the few days prior to leaving. The last bits seem to be the most stressful and I kept thinking of yet more stuff I needed. I was going to get some Rescue Remedy to try to keep me calm (or calm me down I should say!) but I never ended up getting round to it.

I didn't sleep much the night before, which always seems to happen when I'm going away no matter what time I am travelling. I am a rubbish sleeper anyway but add a holiday to the mix & I've no chance! I did manage a bit of sleep though & then woke up far too early. Great. I had to cram the last bits into my ever increasing hand luggage which included travel cushions, a few bits of make up, chargers, tablet, camera, travel documents & a couple of clear bags with various toiletry bits I didn't want to risk getting smashed in the main case etc etc. You get the idea. There was a lot! And it was heavy. Good job I had a wheelchair to rest it on!!

Fast forward a few hours & the taxi arrived. As the hubby was hoovering. Seriously.. hoovering. I was not impressed but it made me seem to forget about panicking so much as I was shouting that the taxi was there over the sound of the hoover. Men! I had done the usual "our cases seem really heavy" thing, despite us being allowed to take up to 22kg in each case. I do it every time. And every single time we are way under.

We had done the online check-in via the Travel Agent & had booked wheelchair assistance. However when we got to the desk they had no record of the assistance. Erm what?! Slight moment of panic but she said she could add it no problem. It's at the other end that I need it more. Palma airport is ridiculously huge so without them helping us through security etc it would be a nightmare with the wheelchair. But all was ok. And our cases weighed about 5kg under! Surprise surprise.

Little miss practising for her holiday!

Then it was security which always makes me anxious for some reason. But we were soon through. My daughter was relieved that none of us had anything bad on us!! We went through to the departure lounge & nipped to the loo. The next thing, we heard someone knocking on the door. And then again. Probably kids I thought. But no, hubby was standing there saying he had heard an announcement with our name saying to go to a particular gate as a matter of urgency. Bloody brilliant. However he hadn't been listening properly so had no idea where to go. 'Surely they wouldn't be calling us' I thought... I sent him off to find someone as I was annoyed I'd not had chance to look at duty free (!) & he came back a few minutes later saying it was someone else with the same name.. I was not very happy with him & I stomped (wheeled myself) off into Superdrug!!

I managed to grab a few bits I'd wanted for a while (Rimmel stay matte primer, holiday necessity!) then suddenly it was time to board. With having wheelchair assistance we had to get to the gate earlier than the other passengers. An hour earlier in fact. The guy found us before we found him & took us to the ambi-lift which is a special lift they use to take you up to the plane, which was quite far away. I was also complimented on my funky wheels several times which was nice! Why have a boring wheelchair when you can have a blinged one (post all about it here!)

Leading the way to the plane!

Our seats were towards the back of the plane & they had said we would board via the rear steps, but the lift goes at the front so I had a bit of a walk down the plane. It was fine though. We usually get on first but this time it was after everyone else. Cue all the stares from people! (This is when I feel like wearing a badge saying I have a chronic illness)..

And then the panic started. I hate taking off. I always sit with my eyes shut & my head under a pashmina because I'm a big baby, but this time my friend had given me a tip (you know who you are!!) to keep my eyes open & look out of the window when taking off. I didn't know if I would be able to do it, but I did. For the first time in years. I can't say I particularly enjoyed it but I was so proud! And it really did make a difference. I didn't feel as scared or as iffy as usual. Until the turbulence kicked in & I freaked haha.

Because the flight was only a few hours it wasn't that bad. Sort of. And it did go quite fast. Once they have been round with drinks, snacks etc & we've eaten half our sweets it soon passes the time. My daughter was kept occupied with various crafty bits I'd got her & her DS which I ended up playing Super Mario on for a while! There was a fair bit of turbulence on the way down so I wasn't as brave as on the way up (I was a complete & utter scaredy cat as my daughter would say) but after some breathing exercises & telling myself it was fine we were down. Yay, we were in Majorca!!!

To be continued..

Pre holiday shenanigans

So I am currently in the pre-holiday 'only a few days to go now' stage & further to my previous post about why I pack early here I thought I would post a little update.

I had a list of the last bits I needed... why do we take so much for a week's holiday?!  I made it out to the shops for a bit with my sister & managed to tick a lot of it off. And bought various snack stuff for my hand luggage in the process. Haribo anyone? Of course it knackered me but I couldn't relax until it was done.

I then decided to tackle packing the toiletries. Which is a task in itself. A few years ago I had a shampoo leak which I didn't know about until unpacking at the other end. Oh it was not a pretty sight! So every time I go away now I put tape around the lids of everything! (I had some nail polish remover pads leak last year which I hadn't taped. Fail). I then wrap stuff in a plastic bag. Mock if you like but it's so much better than having to clean whatever is it that has leaked when you open your case. No one wants a load of sticky stuff all over their pretty clothes!! My friend suggested using washi tape as it's easier than sellotape to get off - thanks Sian - so that's what I've used this time. Prettiest looking bottles heading to Majorca I bet...

As I mentioned in my other post I sorted my clothes without any hassle & the fact I packed a while ago means I've actually forgotten what's in the case! So of course this means I can't match my hair accessories to my outfits so I need various ones just in case (so sly). I think I will take them in my hand luggage too as the special Glitterati bag I am using to take them in (thanks to Sophie & Gareth aka Mr & Mrs Glitterati) is a fab size plus I can't risk them getting lost. I'd be more concerned about them than my clothes with how attached I am to them haha!!

And can I just say I'm a little envious of my little girl's flip flops. I mean glitter & flamingos!!!

So to how I have been feeling. I have been pretty chilled all week about it & I was feeling ok. Or so I thought. It's weird that when you think you're alright, bubbling away under the surface is the big bad anxiety monster. Which keeps hidden until suddenly BOOM. IN YOUR FACE! I started with chest pains earlier suddenly from nowhere & felt really tight chested which scared me so I had to stagger upstairs so I could lay down. I was struggling to get my words out which happens with an M.E crash but this was different. The pains stopped after a while but the tight chest stayed for quite a long time. I had to literally stay laying down most of the day as I felt worse if I got up. I think it must have been an anxiety attack that totally took me by surprise.

However, when I think about the things I will be doing in the next week, I don't think it is such a surprise really. Travelling with a chronic illness that I know will make my symptoms increase is a biggie, especially as I know the after effects won't be the most pleasant. I have disabled assistance booked for the airport which means less queueing etc but I get pretty wrecked travelling. Plus after a bad landing (or should I say a non landing) last year it freaked me out a bit. A lot. It is also my daughter's dance show tomorrow & I think because I know by going it will wipe me out which is far from ideal so close to going away it is making me anxious. But I am having the mummy guilt & know that if I don't go I will probably feel more rubbish than if I do!

I suppose I need to try to stay calm, not worry about the what-if's & just take each day. I am focusing on chilling out in the sun so even if I don't feel brilliant on the day we travel I will just do my best. I CAN DO THIS. I have plenty of stuff to help make the journey as comfortable as possible & a little girl who makes me laugh so I think I'll be ok. Failing that I have lots of sweets....

Holiday packing - Spoonie style!

It's almost time for our holiday & I know a lot of people dread packing because it's such a chore. I never particularly liked doing it before I got ill so still find it a hassle but since having M.E I kind of get organised (or try to) several weeks before we so. Because if I leave everything until last minute then it will completely stress me out & make me burn out which may mean not being well enough to travel. And an even poorlier than usual Spoonie (see previous post here about what a spoonie is) is not a pretty sight!

As a holiday approaches, out comes all the small clothing or swimwear that hasn't seen the light of day for a long time. Some stuff I have only makes an appearance when it's holiday time then it gets put away in a cupboard never to be seen again until the next one.. I have some sarongs that are practically as old as me (& I never seem to wear them when I am away!) but it's almost become a ritual for me when packing. "Oh that old thing" I think as I put it in the case. And then re-pack it a week later at the other end wondering why I bothered to take it...

Source Pinterest

The thing I love about beach holidays is that you don't really need that much stuff. I mainly take dresses for the evening & they are always lightweight as no-one wants to be sweaty (or sweatier than you already are) on an evening. We already have to battle with huge hair that no matter how much anti frizz serum goes on it, never stays frizz free. I imagine I shall mostly be wearing mine in a high bun with one of my various hair accessories this time around. However choosing which ones to take has become more of a problem than which clothes to take. So I'm taking a fair few. They are only small so it's acceptable.

After asking (some may say nagging) the hubby to get the cases from the loft several times (why do men never listen?), he finally got them down & I discovered one of them was broken. I seem to remember my mum borrowed it a few years ago & it happened then (!) so no idea why we still have it! I've borrowed another one from her now so didn't have to panic buy a new one. We only take 2 cases between the 3 of us as my daughter doesn't really have enough stuff to fill a case so it's just a waste. Every time we go away I think we will be over on the weight but we never are.

I had a trying on session a few weeks ago & pretty much knew what I was going to take, some new but mainly summer stuff I had already. Of course the denim hotpants from my recent Primark haul are in there!! I also got my little girl to try her stuff on the other day. She's grown quite a bit taller recently so a few things were shorter than we'd anticipated. Good job her big cousin passes stuff down as she has some gorgeous dresses to take!

I am fairly sensible when it comes to shoes & am only packing 3 pairs of sparkly flats!!! I am hiring a mobility scooter when we get there, which I much prefer to using my wheelchair, so although I could get away with heels I'm not bothering. This was me on the scooter last year, as you can see I am really mature!

Currently the cases are in my daughter's bedroom half filled with our clothes ( not his as he will no doubt do it the day before!) & a few toiletries. That's another thing I find a hassle buying for a holiday so this year I did an online shop at Superdrug which made it a lot less stressful. Most stuff was on some sort of offer & I managed to get pretty much everything except children's suncream which we will get elsewhere. I always put some tape around lids & then put each bottle in a freezer bag as I had a shampoo leak a few years ago & it was a nightmare!

I used to pack loads of medicine type stuff (other than my own tablets which I always take in hand luggage) but don't bother with that much now as the pharmacies over there are so good, so if we do need anything we can just get it there. I always pack the basics like antiseptic cream & plasters. Oh and calpol which is a necessity with children!

I intend on getting my makeup bits & jewellery together this week. Not that I wear that much makeup on holiday as I will hopefully have a bit of colour on my face. A selection of lippies & some of the glittery eye liners I use from Collection cosmetics will be pretty much all I need. And I always end up taking loads of jewellery but don't wear half of it so am going to be sensible. Or try at least.

I have packed most of the evening stuff already on hangers as they never provide enough when you are away, plus it makes it easier when you get there. No matter how knackered I am, I always feel better once the unpacking has been done so tend to do it when we arrive & then can push the cases under the beds & forget about them!

A tip I learnt from my friend Sian who blogs at howtodealwithme.blogspot.co.uk & has a series of travel tips for Spoonies on her blog, was to pack your beach bag ready with what you need so depending on when you arrive you can just grab it & go without having to think about what to put in it. I found this useful last time so am doing it again. It already has my huge hat in & some sunglasses so I will add bits to it & then pack away with everything else.

I always split stuff between the cases so if one went missing at least there would be enough in the other to keep us going. And I always put a bikini in my hand luggage just in case both cases went AWOL!  I take an inflatable cushion in my hand luggage too so I can put it at the bottom of my back as I get so uncomfortable. I got one from Poundland & have tested it already as the one I got last time was rubbish & deflated every 2 minutes.

I am aware this is getting really long so going to stop now & I might do another post before I go. To let you know if I have managed to be as sensible as planned!

If you have any questions or tips please leave me a comment below. Thanks for reading

Having a break from the norm

I am not upto writing too much today as we have been away for a few days & I am suffering big time! The joys of payback...

We went the seaside overnight to a place called St Annes which is next to Blackpool. It was nice having a change of scenery & a bit of fun.  I knew I would feel rubbish as a result but (& I have been speaking to a few friends who also have M.E & we all agree) it is worth feeling rubbish when you've actually done something rather than feeling rubbish for no particular reason.  You expect payback & you know it will wipe you out but as I've said before if we don't ever do anything then it makes an already crap existence even more crap!

The journey wasn't too bad despite taking about an hour & 40 minutes.  My back hurts when sitting for not very long & I get really uncomfortable.  But I managed to shut my eyes as my daughter was happy with her electronic books & games on the tablet (obviously I wasn't driving!!) & I was almost nodding off.

We went down to the Pier when we got there & went in the arcades.  You can't go to the seaside & not go to the amusements! Dread to think how much money we wasted!!

We had good old fish & chips too which again is a must at the seaside!

We went back to the hotel & while I rested they went swimming.  We then chilled for a bit before going to do some children's activities.   My daughter now has an arm full of Halloween tattoos!

We had dinner in the hotel & made the most of the buffet! I don't really eat dessert at home but couldn't resist the huge chocolate cream eclair Mmmmm...such a piggy.

We went to Blackpool zoo the following day & really enjoyed it. I was complimented on my newly decorated wheelchair (blog post to follow!)  It was very wheelchair accessible & made it easy for me to get around.

The first animals we saw were a pair of giant tortoises who happened to be mating. My daughter thought it was cute that the mummy was giving the baby a cuddle!!!

They have loads of wild animals there from tigers to elephants to giraffes & it was really nice being able to get so close to them.

My favourites were the penguins but their feeding time was rudely interrupted when a seagull went to the toilet on my daughter's head & we had to go & wash it out!!

We watched a creepy crawly talk & those who know me will be shocked to find out I held both a giant snail & a giant cockroach. I bottled the cockroach at first then decided to give it a go.  I can't say I enjoyed it!  My daughter wasn't phased at all...

We stopped to see an old friend briefly on the way back who I worked with many moons ago & haven't seen for a long time so that was lovely.

Journey home was a nightmare & there must have been an accident or something as we hardly moved for ages so ended up diverting to my uncle's house in Manchester & stayed there for the evening!

I am having a couple of total rest days now so will hopefully pick up soon. After over 11 years of experiencing payback you would think it would get easier but it doesn't.

However when I think back to the "cuddling" tortoises it makes me giggle & seeing my daughter have fun makes it all worth it :-)

Holiday! Travelling with a chronic illness/M.E

It's been almost 2 weeks since I got back from Majorca but I haven't felt upto writing as it took it out of me a bit so been trying to rest! I've also had a busy weekend meeting up with a lovely friend who is a fellow M.E sufferer so my body isn't too happy with me at the moment!

I was panicking a bit about the travelling as I knew it would be draining & I'd feel rough afterwards.  However, it actually wasn't as bad as I thought at all!  The staff at the airport, on check in & also wheelchair assistance, were great.  My daughter even got to send off our cases!

We flew from Leeds Bradford airport & it is only a small airport.  Despite there being mayhem the previous day due to French air traffic strikes, the flight was on time.  The wheelchair assistance at the airport is always brilliant, the staff are lovely & it's great not having to queue with everyone else - there has got to be some perks of using a wheelchair!  Wheelchair users usually board first or last but this time, as I can manage the stairs upto the plane, we went on with everyone else.  When I had checked in online with Jet2 they had given us 3 seats separately which amused me as I thought I may get a quiet flight while my daughter annoyed her daddy!! But they had changed them so we were sat together ;-)

I put my heat pads on my back & blew up the neck pillow.  I should have tested it first though as I soon found out it didn't work very well & kept deflating. That will teach me for buying it from Poundland!!  I don't like taking off & always cover my face with my pashmina, much to my daughter's amusement.  In fact her words on the flight home were "don't be a scaredy cat mummy, be a good cat"!!  Bless her.

My sister used to be cabin crew for Jet2 & her friend was the Senior on our flight so it was a nice surprise seeing him.  My daughter was so good, she kept occupied with a 'colour your own' pencil case I had bought her, a sticker book & a princess magazine.  We had some sandwiches & snacks & I didn't feel too bad. The heatpads really helped with the pain in my back.  My legs were a different story though!

Once you arrive at the destination airport & have booked assistance, you stay on the plane until everyone has got off.  They bring an ambi-lift to the plane which takes passengers over to the terminal.  They were waiting for me with my wheelchair (phew, it had made it!) & I was the only wheelchair passenger too so we had it to ourselves. The man there was lovely.  My daughter showed off her limited Spanish (thanks to Dora the Explorer!) & he gave her his ear defenders to wear as well as lifting her up onto the ambi-lift (much to her delight!) which was open at the front.  Health & safety is clearly very different over there!!

Palma airport is massive so it really helps having an extra pair of hands & someone who knows where they are going! Again no having to queue at security, bonus :-)  We found our cases, got on the coach for the transfer to resort with a load of rowdy teens (oh how old I felt!) & it wasn't long before we were off.

Arrived at the hotel & was very happy to find out we were in the one I had asked for - they are twin hotels next to each other - we had been put on the first floor close to the lift.  Glad they had taken on board what I'd asked for as last year when we went they put us on the 8th floor so we spent ages messing about changing it.  I can just about manage 1 flight of stairs but not 8..!

I didn't feel too bad & they went for a wander whilst I (probably very stupidly) started unpacking!  The tiredness soon hit me & we went to bed.  Surprisingly slept well & there is not a lot nicer than getting up & putting your bikini on knowing you have a day of sun to look forward to.  We were all inclusive too so no having to worry about going off to buy drinks or ice-cream!

I hired a mobility scooter which arrived within an hour & I didn't use the wheelchair again until we left for the airport on the way home.   I much prefer using scooters as it gives me much more independence.  Means I can go off whenever I want, to the shops usually!  My daughter hitched many a ride on it too, she didn't want to walk & wasn't happy when I made her!!

The holiday was lovely, the sun always helps my symptoms ease a bit & it was just so nice totally relaxing.   I love the beach so enjoyed chilling there a few times.  Apart from my daughter being stung by a jellyfish on day 2!  I could happily lie on the beach all day.  Love the sound of the waves!

The food was great, lots of choice & we only ate lunch out once.  I usually get fed up of the food on holiday towards the end but never do at that hotel.  I did more walking than I should have, around the pool & in the gift shops etc but I took my painkillers when I needed & used loads of my heat spray before bed!

I have had an intolerance to alcohol since I have had M.E but I have a drink every now & then.  I (over!)indulged in Sangria when I was there.  Didn't think that through very well when having a scooter to drive! Luckily I avoided any incidents.

I don't usually read much these days but I took a book that I had wanted to read with me & finished it within a few days.  It is called One Million Lovely Letters by the amazing & very inspirational Jodi Ann Bickley & I recommend it to everyone.  Jodi also suffers from M.E after dealing with some horrific things & writes the most fantastic letters to people who need it.
More information is on her website here

Being able to spend quality time with my princess & seeing her have loads of fun was brilliant.  She makes me so proud ♥

All in all I would recommend anyone with M.E, if they can, to have a holiday.  When I saw my osteopath after I had got back he asked if I'd been in the swimming pool as my muscles/joints weren't as bad as he was expecting.   I don't really swim much but just being in water helps so it is something I am going to try to do more.

Having some colour makes me feel much better too but that will soon be gone!

Holiday time...

Quick post as tomorrow I go on holiday. Feeling absolutely wiped out, had so much to do this week & didn't realise how much stuff I would have to pack.  Clothes were easy, it was all the accessories that women (or this woman!) need.  Make up, jewellery, hair stuff, meds, nail polish bla bla bla!

Plus my little girl also seems to have loads of stuff to bring, wonder where she gets that from ;-)

I have wheelchair assistance booked for the airports & have always found it brilliant before so hoping the same will happen this time.  I only use the wheelchair for the airport as I hire a mobility scooter when we get there.  Beware of me people of Majorca is all I can say!

I am really not looking forward to travelling, any sort of travelling totally wipes me out & by the time we've checked in I am usually ready to lie down!! Planes aren't the most comfortable of things either. I have my heat pads to stick on my back, eye mask, ear plugs for when the noise drives me mad & lots of snacks.  I have been struggling with low blood sugar this week & been having dizzy spells so need to remember to eat!  Then we have the transfer to resort, but have to wait for everyone else to land & get on the coach, before eventually arriving at our hotel. Think I've just put myself off going!!

But once we're there & wake up to beautiful sunshine, unlimited food & drinks & not needing to do much at all then I know I will relax & hopefully get nice & brown in the process!  We are going to the same hotel as the last 2 years as it's really good for accessibilty, entertainment & food.  It is a few minutes from the beach too, which has wooden platforms with a covered area so I can get on really easily & park up!

My friend has done some brilliant blog posts about travelling with chronic illness here & I have used some of her tips. Who would have thought pill boxes made perfect storage for jewellery when travelling?

Anyway time to sleep now.  See you when I'm back! :-)
