Children are funny. And so honest too aren't they?! I managed to get out in the sun the other week when it was hot & whilst I was laying with my girlie on her bed before she went to sleep I noticed my tummy looked tanned so I asked her if it looked brown. She said "yes and you also look like you've got a baby in it". Great. Thanks darling daughter. I clearly need to stick to the healthy eating plan that I am currently on before we go on holiday!
I do love (most of the time) the things kids say. And how funny they are without meaning to be. The other day I had some nuts as a snack & she asked if she could have some so I passed her one. "Thanks mummy, is that an Arnold?" It was an almond! So cute.
I write stuff down sometimes when she says things that make me laugh & put them in my memory box (previous post about it here) because I forget them so quickly. I could probably write a book purely with funny things she's said and still have room for more.
My friend lives in Wales & when my little girl found out she said to her "you're from Wales but you're not a whale are you?".
I also love how they pick up the phrases we say (sort of). The other night she was in bed, or so I thought, when I came out of my bedroom to see her on the landing as she had been to the loo. She jumped & said I had given her the "shock out of her life"!
One of the most recent funny ones was when my friend sent me a "poo emoji" cushion. For those of you who use emojis in messages, you will know the one I mean. When she came home from school she went upstairs & I suddenly heard her saying "Aaaw yay". She came downstairs holding the cushion & asked if she could have it. I asked if she knew what it was & she said "It's chocolate mummy", whilst looking at me as if I was stupid. I had to try to conceal my laughter which I wasn't very good at but I didn't have the heart to tell her it wasn't chocolate. I asked her to name it & after several not so appropriate ones, she came up with a brilliant name..... Chocolate! Yep it is called Chocolate & now resides on her bed with the rest of her cushions & teddies. Oh how I laughed!
She is also very quick thinking & has an answer to everything. Every time. I sometimes think she must have a secret power where she knows what we are going to say before we say it! An example is today when she had been at her swimming lesson & when she got back, I was in the garden with my mum. I had said earlier she could have an ice lolly when she came home so she asked if she could have it. My mum said jokingly that we had eaten them all so she said "well there's only one wrapper on the floor so I know you haven't". Doesn't miss a trick that child!
I am racking my brains to think of more but brainfog strikes again & I have drawn a blank. I will try to remember to write them down & keep copies in a notepad or something rather than folding them away for the memory box, not to see them again until the end of the year! And I will write about them when I have enough.
Would love to hear some funnies your children say, if you leave a comment or message me I may use some in a future post!
Thanks for reading,
Ali

Mummy, can I have the same make up as you?
My daughter loves sitting with me & watching me do my make up. Don't all little girls? After she did a makeover for me recently which I blogged about here she has been asking to help me do it lots but hadn't asked if she could have hers done. Until now!
I am personally not a fan of young children wearing make up but I don't mind it so much when we are in the house & will sometimes let her have a bit of sparkle on her eyes. Or if she is going to a party or on holiday etc. And she has some children's lip glosses which she likes wearing at weekends. But last weekend she sat with me while I did mine & kept asking to help but as we were going out I thought it was safer if I did it myself!! Then she asked if I could do hers the same as mine when we got back & I agreed as knew we weren't going back out again. Plus I thought it would make a fun blog post...!
She never forgets anything so after I'd had a rest she wanted to know if it was make up time! I stressed to her that it was a one off & that she wouldn't normally be allowed it. I told her I was going take some pictures for my blog, not that she understands what it is! She chose the stuff she had seen me use earlier & sat on her bed ready for me to start. It actually made me feel a bit uncomfortable doing it but I had promised.
This was my beautiful girl before we started...
And the stuff she chose...
I then put a bit of blusher on her cheeks, it's a Soap and Glory one that my friend got me for my birthday & it's gorgeous.
She had chosen exactly the same for her eyes as I'd used, an elf cosmetics chubby stick (elf have stopped delivering in the UK so not putting a link in) & a shimmery pink from a Makeup Revolution palette.
She asked for mascara & I initially said no but then said I would, as I thought if I did it for her she would be less likely to try it herself when I wasn't looking. I applied the tiniest bit on the ends. Enough for her to think she had it on.. Her lashes are so long & I hope she will appreciate them when she's older!
The lipstick she'd chosen was my new (& only.. boo hoo) Mac one that I got from her for my birthday, in the shade Patisserie. It's so nice, a really natural pink & she loved me putting it on her (after she had a go first).
She also wanted some eyebrow powder on to be like me so I put a bit on. Quite funny really, I mean she's only 6 (going on 16)!!!
When I told her she could look in the mirror she was really excited. I told her she looked lovely but I said she looks beautiful every day & doesn't need make up. And I said again we had only done it for fun which she understood.
I saw a TV programme last week about people who 'bling their babies' & one of the mums was talking to her daughter about how people don't look nice without make up. And the little girl agreed. What sort of message is that giving your child? It made me feel quite sick that someone could put that sort of idea in their child's head. But again that's just my personal opinion.
As girly as I am, it really did make me feel uncomfortable putting make up on my little girl. I know everyone is different but that's just how I feel. Last year she did a dance show & I almost didn't recognise her when she appeared on stage as she had lots on.. I couldn't wait to get her face clean when she got home!!

I tried to get away with not putting anything on her face but as I said, she doesn't forget so told me off & said she wanted some.. "You said I could mummy". I literally used a tiny bit of my cream foundation!

I am surprised she chose such natural stuff & did expect her to pick really bright things. But she was happy & didn't mind either when I said later it was time to take it off.
It did give me a slight glimpse into the future & I didn't like it!! She's my baby & she always will be.

When your child does your make up!
I was watching some YouTube videos recently & when I saw this one from Nic Chapman, one half of the brand Real Techniques, I knew I had to pinch the idea & let my little girl loose on my face... all in the name of blogging!
She came home from school & set to work. The photos are pretty self explanatory so I won't say much other than I think she did a pretty good job given her age. Future make up artist perhaps?
At the end of it I asked her if I looked beautiful & she said "yes mummy but you always look beautiful". She is the cutest!
So here are the pictures, enjoy!!
Before...scary!!
Real Techniques buffing brush. Best product ever!
She was just loving the blusher!!
Ta-da!
What do you think... did she do well?!!

Mobility scooters & wheelchairs & funniness!
Before I start this post I just want to mention that it has been a very sad week as a friend, who was a big part of the M.E community on Twitter, very sadly passed away. I know how much he would have enjoyed this post & I would like to dedicate it to him. Allan, hope you're laughing up there xx

I have been researching for this post recently; meaning I have been asking people via social media for their funny stories! No naming & shaming but if you are one of those lovely people then thank you for the giggles & for allowing me to share :)
The idea for it came about when I recently used a mobilty scooter at the supermarket. When I was ready to leave, I asked my carer who was with me if she would take the scooter back for me & we swapped places. However instead of going into reverse she went forward & narrowly avoided knocking me over! I just laughed hysterically whereas she looked horrified at what had nearly happened!!
It made me think of other incidents I have had when using mobilty scooters. One that sticks in my mind is when I was at Butlins a few years ago & somehow managed to knock the switch into reverse whilst the key was in & I went straight over a poor man's foot. I went into panic mode & went forward full of apologies but then (& this makes me cringe still) I went backwards AGAIN & did it for a second time. Oh the shame! The poor guy. He said he was ok, whilst holding onto his foot clearly pained & I felt terrible. When we left I broke into fits of nervous laughter, I was nearly sick for laughing but in a kind of "what have I done" kind of way!! Do you know how heavy those things are?! Ooops.
Another one that sticks in my mind is when I went off in a shopping centre & proceeded to get stuck in a particular shop near the shoes. I tried moving but it wouldn't budge. And then it happened. The whole stand of shoes came down. Shoes everywhere. I have never been so embarrassed I don't think. It is a bit of a blur as I think I blocked it from my mind!! But I seem to remember someone coming to move the stand & me mumbling apologies before scooting off!!
I am going to list some of the stories people have shared with me...so enjoy!
"When my daughter sat on my knee, took control & ran someone over!"
"One of the funniest days in my old job was when a lady lost control of her scooter & drove through a BBQ/summer food display. Jars smashed all over the place, plates & glasses went flying. Made sitting at a pay point a lot more fun that day!"
"My friend tipped me off a bus ramp once. Another friend lost control on a slope & I nearly ended up in The Thames. I actually had to cling onto a lampost to escape the water, passers by helped lift me out!"
"Every time I take my 2 year old nephew to play group, I have to give him & half his class a ride round the hall! It's beautiful how innocent they are that they think a mobility scooter is a fun type of pram!"
"I've got an old USA (Minnesota) number plate on mine, gets some funny looks!"
"My friend & I nearly got kicked out of Chester Zoo for racing scooters & giving backies!"
"I was reduced to 3 wheels once & had to call my dad to drive us home. Started singing '3 wheels on my wagon & I'm not going along'!"
"There was the time mine got stuck in deep gravel & my cousin had to pull me out. Embarrassing but funny!"
"I once got stuck in the mud in front of LOTS of people, none of whom offered to help. I got my revenge on them when I sprayed them all with wet mud once my wheels got a bit of momentum!
I also once knocked over a mountain of toilet papers that were stacked in a perfect pyramid on display. They all came tumbling down in front of me. It was their own fault for not giving me enough access in their aisles!"
Hope this has given you a giggle. Feel free to share your own stories in the comments, I do love a good laugh! xx
